About H.O.P.E. for the GOOD
MISSION: To empower families, youth, and individuals to build their communities through service, healthy and positive life choices.
VISION: We envision a world full of people, young and old, making a difference through their commitment to service, a positive attitude, and a desire to play. To make healthy and lasting impacts on their communities, schools, neighborhoods, families and themselves.
“By doing these little things on a daily basis, you not only help yourself, but everyone around you.”
— Steve Oberst, cofounder
Susie & Steve Oberst
Steve and Susie Oberst have been involved in community-building projects, in Washington state, for over thirty years. With a background in non-profit management and a passion for youth empowerment through sports, they decided to start an organization with their four sons that offer opportunities to learn life skills on and off the courts. They spend their time staying active by chasing their grandchildren and dogs around the state.
Take a look at what some of the individuals that we have helped over the years, are saying about us
“The Clark County Veterans Assistance Center is so very grateful for all the donations and help that we receive through H.O.P.E for the Good. They are an amazing organization and have been a constant supporter of the center, all of our Veterans and their families!”
“You guys have a good thing going here. Glad to be a part of it. This is kind of amazing. Thank you for letting our business be a Vendor at your event. We had fun watching all the players and spectators and it was definitely bigger than we expected for the first year out. See you next year!“
“I owe you an apology. I honestly didn’t think this was going to be as big as it was. It was amazing to come out here and see all of the people having such a good time. I love that you have players young and old, all skill sets, as well as people who have physical challenges and you make everyone feel equally important. I am sure you are all very tired but just know it was a job well done and it didn’t go unnoticed.“
“Well, I thought I would tell you thank you for the clothing and gas card you provided me. I was seriously in a bad spot and knowing that you guys were right there not being judgemental but helping me with getting what I needed to get to a job interview and also helping me with contacts to other resources was definitely what helped me get over the hill I was stuck trying to get up! I appreciate your assistance and I hope to one day be able to pay it forward.”
“For the first time in all the years of working in the Educational system, I have never seen so many families needing assistance for food. Our school is the one that seems to get forgotten so I am beyond thrilled to work with you. We have never had people request food over Easter baskets and I honestly wasn’t sure what we were going to do. All you said when I told you is” We got this, let me know how many and you will have them”. You always seem to go above and beyond to make sure that no one goes without. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!”
“ I have to tell you how much my girls love volunteering with Hope for the Good. They always need hours for school things but they never seem to mind when you want them to come because you always make it fun and you share stories with them about who they are helping and the why behind it. I love it!“
“Thank you, YOU GUYS ROCK! Thank you for coming in to save the day for our local group who was short 45 boxes of food for families in need. I don’t know how you did it but, you guys did. Thank you again for making sure tummies are filled!”
“Thank you for supplying all the school supplies and backpacks for the kiddos we have in our program. You made many little ones smile today!”
“Thank you so much for being angels last month when we were displaced due to a fire! I honestly don’t know what we would have done if it wasn’t for Hope for the Good, and American Red Cross. You guys came in and had so much for my kids, myself and our unborn baby. It was such a huge blessing. You even stayed and played with the kids when we moved into a temporary apartment and got the baby crib set up with all the other things for the kids too. Our Dylan was born 3 weeks ago and we are so happy! You certainly did bring HOPE right when we needed it.
